EVENTS & MEETINGS REBOOT: New space at the Museum of London Docklands

The Museum of London Docklands has announced the latest addition to its venue portfolio with the launch of the Riverside Room. The new space is now available to book for events taking place once the museum reopens in May, in line with Government guidance and with social distancing measures securely in place.

Housed within one of the oldest Georgian warehouses in Britain, the temporarily named Riverside Room is located on the right-hand side of the beautiful Muscovado Hall as you enter the museum. The new event space benefits from its own entrance and private terrace area meaning guests can enjoy the Canary Wharf skyline, as well as the atmosphere of the docks.

The new space embodies the history of this Grade I listed warehouse building, with its exposed brick walls, original wooden columns and floors providing a unique backdrop for events, from conferences and training to gala dinners, drinks receptions and product launches. The Riverside Room has capacity for 300 guests for standing receptions, 120 for dinners and up to 100 for daytime conferences.

Sarah McQueen, Assistant Head of Commercial Services at the Museum of London, said: “The last 12 months have been incredibly difficult, and we’ve really missed sharing our incredible museum with guests and creating memorable experiences. With the vaccine programme continuing, and the roadmap out of lockdown progressing, we are delighted to be able to offer a completely new space at the Museum of London Docklands once live events resume.

“Getting teams back together face-to-face to reboot company culture and boost morale is going to be so important in the months to come, and to be able to bring a new space to market is fantastic for us and our clients. We expect the impressive size of the Riverside Room, alongside its private entrance and terrace with spectacular views of the Canary Wharf skyline, will make it a popular choice with organisers and we can’t wait to help bring their event visions to life.

“Safety procedures are never far from our mind, and as such, the Riverside Room, alongside all our other spaces within the museums, will be fully Covid-secure with all of the necessary Covid-compliant procedures and processes in place, so organisers can be confident that guests will be welcomed into a safe environment.”

The Museum of London and the Museum of London Docklands have achieved Visit England’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ standard, the mia’s AIM Secure accreditation and the ‘Safe Travels’ stamp from the World Travel & Tourism standard.
