From the desk of Penelope Alice, Britain’s most fabulous PA: The Jones Family Project

Every now and then you come across a restaurant that has a truly unique idea behind it. The Jones Family Project is my latest discovery; I was so blown away by the food at the tasting event I attended the other night that all I could say was “wow”.

The restaurant is convenient for City companies such as mine and it’s location in Old Street means that it’s also a trendy place to eat. The really cool thing about the décor is that it changes every couple of months to a new theme, so you’ll never feel like you’re visiting the same venue twice.

JFP’s story is as unique as the restaurant itself. It’s a collaboration between long-time friends Duncan and Anna Watts, Amit Joshi and Cristiano Caputo, who share a mutual love of good food and drink. They wanted to create a fun and relaxed dining experience with well thought-out dishes.

Having met the whole team, I can tell you that their passion for the business comes across in waves when you chat with them. Cristiano talked in depth about the amount of time he spends creating new meals and perfecting them until he’s happy. Amit’s cocktail creations are unique enough to set them apart from the hundreds of bars in the area, but they’re also simple and delicious.

And the food (all locally sourced) is to die for. We sampled a little bit of everything on the current menu – that changes along with the décor too – but by far my favourites were the succulent meat dishes. I loved the juicy rib eye, sirloin and fillet steaks and prime rib. The highlight was the pork rib eye, a cut made exclusively for JFP by the Ginger Pig.

With a private dining space and ample choice on the menu, this is definitely the kind of place I’ll be considering for Mr P’s business dinners in the future. If you do nothing else today, have a look at the website at jonesfamilyproject.co.uk.
