Personal training is the second most popular career path cosidered by job changers.
As the nationโs thoughts turn to their goals for the new year, new research has revealed that almost 1 in 2 adults considering a career change is interested in becoming a personal trainer.
A survey of 2,000 UK adults carried out by beabetteryoucourses.co.uk has found that the nationโs love affair with health and fitness is booming – to the extent that a healthy approach to the start of the year is extending into many Britonsโ job choices, with personal training being second to only teaching in the list of jobs considered by career changers.
The data also shows that 1 in 3 adults in the UK confesses to considering a career change in the New Year.
And current consumer demand shows that those who do pursue a job in this field could be onto a winner, with more than 1 in 5 (22%) UK adults planning to employ a personal trainer in 2016.
Simon Bubb, managing director at beabetteryoucourses.co.uk, said: โWhatโs really interesting about this is the extent to which people are now taking their interest in fitness. In the past few years, weโve seen healthy lifestyle and diet choices becoming more increasingly popular than they have ever been, and this appears to be permeating into peopleโs professional lives.
โCareers in the wellbeing and fitness industry are highly rewarding, and bring health right into the forefront of peopleโs lives. Itโs very hard to maintain a sedentary lifestyle, or consistently make unhealthy choices when you are thinking and talking about nutrition and exercise every day. Itโs also hugely rewarding to witness the results that you have enabled clients to achieve, and go on that journey with them.
โWhatโs more, like many jobs which can involve being self-employed and setting your own hours, the appeal of being able to control your working life is also hugely popular.
โAnybody with the drive and willingness to learn can become a personal trainer, and it can open many doors for the future. Aside from the income potential, thereโs the social element and of course, keeping fit and healthy on the job.โ
The top careers that UK adults have contemplated retraining in are:
1.Teacher โ 44%
2.Personal trainer โ 42%
3.Chef โ 21%
4.Emergency Services (Police, Paramedic, Fire Service etc.) โ 19%
5.Driving instructor โ 13%
