PA Life had a chance to sample the Christmas menu at Hyatt Regency Blackfriars‘ NYnLON restaurant, ahead of the launch on December 1st. The hotel opened recently in a beautiful Grade II listed building on the former grounds of King Henry VIII’s Bridewell Palace, a great location just by Blackfriars Bridge…

What’s the Christmas menu at NYnLON at Hyatt Regency Blackfriars like?

The NYnLon – New York and London, if you didn’t guess yet, brings influences from both cities to their new festive menu. As soon as we arrived at the stylish hotel lobby at the five-star Hyatt Regency London Blackfriarswe knew we were in for a lovely treat. The NYnLon restaurant is one of three restaurants housed within the hotel, and has the right elegance and ambiance for both corporate lunches and dinners as well as team Christmas get-togethers that make your colleagues feel appreciated, as well as private occasions with family and friends.

For our starters, we chose the confit duck terrine served with lightly toasted brioche bread, winter salad, apple and raisin chutney, which simply melted in the mouth and was beautifully plated too. The citrus cured salmon, celeriac remoulade, apple gel, pickled kumquat, Avruga caviar was also a perfect and festive choice – you can’t go wrong with well cured salmon elevate and the chef had prepared this perfectly.

Our mains, the beef cheek served with truffle mash potato and the pan roasted wild sea bass were great winter classics and very tasty too. If you prefer a more traditional Christmas main, the menu offers this too as a turkey ballotine wrapped in bacon with all the trimmings, and as a vegan and vegetarian option they serve a roasted pumpkin & saffron risotto with shaved macadamia nuts.

The 2-course menu is is very reasonably priced at £59 per person, and if you’d like a dessert as well then the 3-course option at £69 is great value too.

Your pudding choices are wonderfully festive too with chestnut sphere , mascarpone crème , hazelnut ice cream, panettone pudding, and vanilla Anglaise. Both menu options are inclusive of tea, coffee and mince pies.

Rather enjoy a Chinese Christmas menu at Chinese Cricket Club?

Fusing traditional cooking techniques and the finest ingredients, enjoy carefully created Christmas menu options in Chinese Cricket Club. Guests will savour an exquisite three course menu including a homemade Dim Sum Platter or Traditional Half Peking Duck, followed by a choice of mains from Fried Dover Sole, Sweet & Sour Prawns in batter and Wok Fried Venison in Black Pepper Sauce. A semi-private dining area is also available. The Christmas Set Menu is priced £89 per person, based on a minimum of two people sharing dishes. Available from 1st December – 4th January. Opening Times: 12 – 10pm, Wednesday to Friday. 12.30 – 10pm, Saturday and Sunday.

Celebrate over festive cocktails & canapes at Leaf & Cane

Celebrate in style at the hotel’s upmarket, design led 1920s Latino cocktail bar for a taste led experience, with a choice of six new handcrafted festive cocktails and canapes, guaranteed to ignite the spirit of Christmas amongst friends and colleagues. There’s an extensive menu of hot and cold canapes such as Smoked Salmon Blinis with Caviar, Creme Fraiche & Dill, Brie Cheese Brûlée, Walnut & Mixed Berry Compote served on crackers, Pigs in Blanket, Mustard Mash with Chives, and Sticky Pork Belly with Maple Glaze served with Red Chilli and Coriander. The menu is available throughout November and December priced at £35 x eight canapes, £40 x ten canapes or £5 per canape. Open from Tuesday to Saturday, 5pm-2am. Available for private hire.

Private celebrations in the Bridewell Suite

Featuring spectacular views, the beautifully finished 190 sq.ft Bridewell Suite awaits corporate or larger groups of friends and family during the festive period. The hotel has created an extra special plated canape menu to delight the most discerning of palates to be served privately in this dedicated events space. Guests can choose from an extensive menu of canapes from Chestnut Velouté with Duck Confit, Parmesan Crisp & Chives, Turkey Ballotine, Apricot Thyme Stuffing, Pumpkin Mash & Chestnut Jus; Steak Tartare, Quail Egg, Caperberries, Oscietra Caviar & Basil Oil; Grilled Beef Fillet, Glazed Beets, Potato Gratin & Bone Marrow Jus, to sweet options such as Mascarpone Parfait, Blackcurrant Sorbet & Ginger Crumble and Apricot & Vanilla Tart with Rosemary Apricot Compote & Mulled Wine Sorbet.

The hotel will be open throughout the Christmas season, including Christmas Day.
