Hotel review: PA Life checked into Foxhills spa and country club in Surrey

PA Life visited Foxhills Country Club & Golf Resort in Chertsey, Surrey. It’s conveniently located just 25 miles from Central London and 15 minutes from Heathrow Airport. Foxhills has won multiple awards as a country club and hotel, and is currently undergoing further improvements with a £3m investment. 

Foxhills is renowned for its unrivalled array of leisure facilities making it perfect for teambuilding activities that incorporate wellness into your off-site meeting or away day.

Our overnight stay

Our bedroom was in the elegant Lyne House with views of the 19th-century manor house, golf course, tennis courts, art studio or courtyard swimming pool. We were kindly gifted one of the newly refurbished rooms, that had been meticulously designed to offer a ‘home away from home’ feel. This was certainly achieved well in the new rooms.

Foxhills blends cosy, traditional features with bold contemporary accents. Each space reflects the charm of the 400-acre estate while introducing refined modern comforts, and decor details such as panelling. The taupe interiors echo the chic yet warm and inviting atmosphere of Foxhills, giving the country house feel you’d expect when visiting the resort in Surrey.

The beds were incredibly plush and comfortable, placed with a fan to keep you cool when the nights heat up. We loved the thick pillows too, you perfectly sink into them.

New additions to the retreat

In a nod to innovation and convenience, each room features a Crave tablet with direct access to Foxhills’ AI concierge, CJ the Fox. This intuitive technology allows guests to seamlessly book activities or spa treatments, request room service, make dining reservations or arrange a late check-out at the tap of a screen from the comfort of their bedroom. We used this to order coffees and make reservations, making the service incredibly swift.

The Spa at Foxhills

Foxhills is known for their incredible spa. To further enhance the holistic wellness experience, it has partnered with award-winning skincare brand Proverb as its new amenities provider. A brand that aligns perfectly with Foxhills’ ethos: ‘To leave feeling better than when you arrived’. This is certainly how we felt when leaving Foxhills.

Indoor pool

We tried out their cold plunge pool, sauna, steam room, and out door hot tub. With Elemis shared all over the property, for visitors to use complimentary. Therefore always leaving with glowing and soothed skin. You also have full access to their gym and classes, further enhancing the wellness element and Foxhills’ ethos. You really feel as though all of the weight is lifted off your shoulders as you relax and make the most of their wonderful facilities.

Our meal at The Fox

We had a three course meal at The Fox, known for their fine dining experience veiled by the dreamy plush golf course as the sun sets. Keeping things light on a Sunday night, we began with fresh Moroccan peppermint tea. The perfect beginning to the meal after our refreshing spa visit. We had some olives to nibble on, sauteed with some sun dried tomatoes.

For starters, we had the Yakitori Chicken Skewers. This was paired with leek, and a soy sauce side. A perfect starter for us. For mains, we had the seafood paella and the Asian Braised Lamb  Shoulder. The Lamb Shoulder was a standout favourite, and we are grateful for the lovely waiter Alan for his suggestion. The lamb fell apart effortlessly, and the gravy tied this all together perfectly. For dessert, we were craving the Hazelnut Choux Bun, which was filled with a hazelnut cream and serviced with a coffee flavoured ice cream. This really topped off the meal for us and left us satisfied.

However, we were told the Pina Colada was a favourite, a delicate and dainty dessert loved by most. We had a fabulous meal, all of the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly.
