The entrepreneurial spirit of a Yorkshire PA has won her a national award.
“A Leeds PA, whose achievements include creating her own job, setting up her own business, and speaking at conferences worldwide, is gaining national recognition this week as she accepts the accolade of ?PA of the Year?, a title bestowed upon her thanks to judges Jacqueline Gold, Josephine Green, and Claire Young in their quest to find Britain?s super achievers.
Voting alongside Managing Director of Pitman Training, Claire Lister, the judges have been supporting Pitman Training?s Super Achievers 2012 Awards (www.trainingthenation.com), created to showcase the best of British business talent to help inspire others across Britain. Marion 44 from North Leeds won the judges hearts and minds thanks to her entrepreneurial spirit, determination and commitment to excellence in her field of work. Described by colleagues as a ?happy accident upon the PA profession?, Marion was initially employed in an administrative role at Yorkshire Universities, when she recognised the need for the CEO to have a PA ? a position she then undertook after being interviewed alongside a number of other candidates. Marion also stood out due to her commitment to her colleagues, as during difficult times of company restructuring and redundancies, she remained positive and took on extra responsibilities including the management of HR and financial procedures.
Alongside her day job, Marion has also worked to support others in her industry, as she is keen to knowledge share and help drive excellence – as a result she identified a need for a dynamic PA network in the region and beyond, and now runs the PA Hub, whilst continuing full time employment. Marion said: ?Through the PA hub I offer training, inspiration and support to PA?s across the country. What I love is helping others realise their potential within the work place ? this is something I?ve been involved in for a while as an active speaker on an international level, but I now wanted to do something much closer to home, to support our local business community?.
Wowing the judges, Marion received some amazing comments:
Jacqueline Gold: ?I really liked Marion?s entrepreneurial nature and how she set up her own business and network. She has also showed real excellence in her current role.?
Josephine Green: ?Marion demonstrated dedication and great skills in her own career and has achieved a great deal. However, what makes her particularly stand out is the commitment she has shown to the PA role as a whole by supporting and helping other PAs in her region and beyond. All in her spare time.?
Claire Young: ?For me Marion sets the benchmark for best practise of being a PA and for the others to follow!?
