From the desk of Penelope Alice, Britain’s most fabulous PA: corporate hospitality preview at Chelsea FC

Mr P has always been a fan of treating his clients to corporate hospitality at sporting events. That’s lucky for me because it means I get to try out the menus on offer before he does. My most recent tasting session was at Stamford Bridge, home of Chelsea Football Club.

One of the best things about the venue’s hospitality options is that even the executive-level menu features what I would call “accessible” food. The evening began with miniature versions of the starters and smaller dishes on offer, such as scampi and chips with mushy peas and a ham hock terrine.

The stadium’s kitchen is run by Levy Restaurants under the watchful eye of Executive Chef Chris Garrett. Chris’s pride in his work became quickly apparent when he gave a short speech before the main courses came out.

Rather than stuffing us to the gills with full dishes, the team came up with the clever idea of serving tiny versions as bowl food. I sampled a lovely piece of salmon covered in spinach pesto and white wine sauce, a burger with skinny fries and a yummy veggie linguini. My diet was abandoned for the night when it came time for dessert, as I opted for a rich dark chocolate mousse and then decided to go the whole hog and try the tempting Eton mess made with three flavours of meringue – simply a-ma-zing.

I don’t think Mr P can possibly be disappointed this season with a menu like that. You can view the venue’s hospitality packages at hospitality.chelseafc.com.
