From the desk of Penelope Alice, Britain’s most fabulous PA: Loved-Up at Madame Tussauds

Love was in the air this weekend thanks to that little holiday called Valentine’s Day. However, as the date drew near my partner and I struggled to come up with ideas for a romantic evening. Luckily, Merlin Events London came to the rescue with its one-off “Loved-Up” couples’ dinner at the famous Madame Tussauds.

It’s not every day that a humble PA is greeted by the faces of the rich and famous. As we made our way into the venue, we said hello to the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Posh and Becks and even Sir Sean Connery. Never you mind we were speaking to their wax models as we nibbled on canapés and sipped champagne – a minor detail, really.

Upstairs in the venue’s Victorian-inspired ballroom, caterer Food by Dish served up a sumptuous three-course meal that included a fish trio starter and fillet of beef served with dauphinoise potatoes. Dessert was chocolate fondue with fresh strawberries, mini-cakes and crystallised rose petals. Pictures of famous couples displayed on a big screen and a soulful singer, who performed classic love songs, rounded off the evening.

All in all, it was a very romantic night – and I even managed to fool some of my friends with the selfies I took with the wax figures. Check out Merlin’s other fun events at merlineventslondon.com.
