From the desk of Penelope Alice, Britain’s most fabulous PA: London Marriott County Hall Christmas showcase

Have you ever thought of trying to get those creative juices flowing at 443 feet? The London Marriott County Hall has and now it’s offering an exclusive package for its corporate clients. I was invited to the launch of the Perfect Meeting last night, which included a preview of the activities available on the iconic London Eye (pictured).

The hotel is one that’s easy to overlook. Not everyone realises that the huge building towering above many of the attractions at the South Bank is home to elegant bedrooms and classic meeting spaces. The property was a government building until the 1980s and has since been transformed into the luxury venue it is today.

Michelle Wharton, the hotel’s new marketing director, has created some great event packages for corporate clients, including a meeting that features a trip on the London Eye complete with creative projects such as Play-Doh, origami and brain-teasing puzzles (I got half-way through one of them, but couldn’t resist snapping some pictures of the city and its twinkling lights from above). The perfect meeting can also be tailored with options such as head and neck massages to keep your delegates refreshed and ready to brainstorm.

Back inside the hotel, we were treated to executive chef Gareth’s signature gin-cured salmon and melt-in-your-mouth beef, along with some bite-sized Yorkshire puddings. As the venue was also showcasing its Christmas offering, we sipped on mulled wine and champagne while listening to festive tunes.

Then we toured three of the 13 meeting spaces to see them set up for a Christmas feast. I had a hard time choosing my favourite between a wood-panelled boardroom and the impressive library, which offers a cosy alternative with stunning views of Big Ben and the Thames.
