From the desk of Penelope Alice, Britain’s most fabulous PA: networking at the Park Crescent Conference Centre

Have you ever passed a building numerous times and never suspected there’s an event venue inside? I discovered the Park Crescent Conference Centre last week at a PA Life networking event – it’s right next to Great Portland Street Station and across from Regent’s Park.

The evening started as any should – with a glass of champagne and some delicious nibbles, including duck spring rolls, vegetable samosas and bite-size tarts. PA Life Editor Colette Doyle gave an inspiring speech about some of the exciting things they have planned for later in the year. I can’t wait to take part in the reader survey.

Our hosts encouraged us to mingle and took us on a “tour” of the rooms by adding a bit of friendly competition in the form of a treasure hunt, with clever riddles as clues. One lucky member of the winning team received a complimentary meeting and a box of chocolates. I have to say I was quite jealous when my group lost because we only got one answer wrong.

The largest space at the venue is the basement theatre, which has recently had a £250,000 facelift and can seat up to 300. One of my favourite features is the availability of natural light. Most of the rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, making them bright and airy.

This is one hidden gem I’ll be keeping on my list for a future meeting. Check it out at pccc.co.uk.
