Host a midsummer night’s party at BMA House

Throwing a spring or summer party in central London? Make sure it goes off in style with an enchanting soirée at one of BMA House’s secret outdoor spaces. Book before 30 April and one in every 10 guests will go free.

There’s nothing like the clink of glasses and the sparkle of conversation in an enchanting outdoor space. But what makes a good summer party come to life? Here, BMA House Event Manager Rebecca Hurley offers a few tips to create a magical outdoor function.

“The best parties have a distinct sense of identity so choose a theme to tie everything together – that doesn’t mean fancy dress. Give your event a glamourous vibe with 1920s-style glassware, or create a retro feel with some 1950s vintage crockery. Choose a band that matches your theme and your evening will feature a great ambiance.

“You can also simply pick a colour theme – bright pinks, greens and blues are the top choices for furnishings and tableware in order to make an impressive statement. Colourful lanterns or candles are great for warming up the outdoor atmosphere.

“Introduce a dash of class to your drinks. Add a twist to champagne with fruit-based mixes such as Bramble Royale with frozen blackberries, or pomegranate Prosecco, one of our favourites at BMA House. Have some desirable mocktails on offer too – try a fizzy cucumber, lime and mint crush with the herb borage served in a cocktail glass.

“Make a statement with your nibbles – street food is still fashionable, but think beyond gourmet hot dogs. Talk to your caterers about miniature canapés, or something very earthy such as crudités in edible soil, which is an eye-catching hit for garden parties. Edible flowers also make a great garnish for drinks, puddings, or salads, adding the flavours of spring and summer.”

Ideal for summer parties and outdoor events, BMA House offers two beautiful and peaceful outdoor spaces, the courtyard and the garden – a remarkable asset given its central London location. Built on the foundations of the house where Charles Dickens wrote some of his classics, the garden is a picturesque secret spot located to the side of the venue. With a capacity of 90, it is suitable for reception drinks, barbecues and cocktail parties.

Surrounded on three sides by the majestic walls of BMA House and on one side by an ornate iron gate, the courtyard is a glamorous location for a reception or standing buffet. It’s perfect for large-scale outdoor events, with a capacity of up to 320.

Located just moments from both Euston and King’s Cross stations, BMA House’s magical open-air spaces can host guests between 6pm and 10pm (extra charges apply for a later finish). If the weather doesn’t go to plan, cover can be found at one of the venue’s stunning indoor areas. All packages include a cloakroom, event security and dedicated service from the property’s professional events team.

From now until 30 April, one in every 10 guests goes free when PA Life readers book one of the Midsummer Night’s party packages. Prices start from £45 per person and include hire of one of the venue’s two outdoor spaces. Guests will enjoy a Midsummer Bellini or Summer Cooler on arrival, as well as a half bottle of house wine accompanied by scrumptious canapés. For an extra £25 per person, a delicious two-course BBQ can be enjoyed as part of the experience. To add extra twinkle to your event, the venue offers lots of ideas, from unique seating to strolling entertainers.
