The Meetings Show Tomorrow’s Talent Winner spotlight: Kate Hutchinson, Secret Event Service

The Meetings Show recently announced the winners of its Tomorrow’s Talent competition, an initiative which aims to champion talented newcomers to the industry and provide a platform for nurturing, mentoring and supporting the industry leaders of the future.

PA Life is throwing the spotlight on each of the winners, continuing with Kate Hutchinson…

Kate Hutchinson launched the Secret Event Service (SES) in 2018 and the company’s focus on creating unique experiences found fast favour with a growing database of clients.  A full-service agency, SES has delivered more than 500 events, pivoting 50 of them virtual through the eye of the pandemic.

What does it mean to be a Tomorrow’s Talent 2021 winner?
I’m honestly thrilled. To be noticed at this level by professionals that I look up to, as someone to watch for the future, is an incredible honour. Thank you.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced this past year, with regards to your career?
The last 12 months has been difficult for all of us across the industry. Learning a new skill in delivering virtual events was absolutely a challenge at first, but I love a challenge. The hardest part of 2020/2021 has been making sure that my team didn’t suffer – it meant personal sacrifices to keep jobs going in the beginning of the pandemic, but my amazing team are so worth the sacrifice and now we’re stronger than ever before.

What do you love most about the sector?
It’s a well-known thing across the industry that we must all be a little insane because the pressure of live events is IMMENSE – but the reward is just as immense. There is no better feeling than getting to the end of a conference with your team, looking round at what you’ve achieved and thinking ‘we did this!’

The Meetings Show takes place on September 30th and October 1st at ExCeL London. To find out more and register to attend, click here.
