The Meetings Show Tomorrow’s Talent Winner spotlight: Lauren Moulsley, Gilead Sciences

The Meetings Show recently announced the winners of its Tomorrow’s Talent competition, an initiative which aims to champion talented newcomers to the industry and provide a platform for nurturing, mentoring and supporting the industry leaders of the future.

Over the coming days, PA Life will throw the spotlight on each of the winners, continuing with Lauren Moulsley …

As senior event planner at Gilead Sciences, Lauren Moulsley works with internal stakeholders to plan their advisory boards, investigator meetings, learning and development training, internal meetings and medical education programmes – events between 10 and 900 capacity. Lauren manages some 30 in-person and virtual events annually, throughout the UK and across Europe.

What does it mean to be a Tomorrow’s Talent 2021 winner?

Events are such a big part of me, inside and outside work, it feels really good to be recognised with such a prestigious award.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced this past year, with regards to your career?

The biggest challenge has been moving into people management. I am going through a very steep learning curve to try and be the best manager I can, reading books, blogs and taking advice from colleagues and friends. I know there will be challenges ahead too, but I am very lucky to have a great team that makes things much easier!

What do you love most about working in the meetings and events industry?

Without a doubt it’s seeing an event come together. My favourite moment ever was during our last live annual conference for the department, watching every single guest enter the room for a gala dinner in awe of how beautiful it was. As soon as I walked into the venue, I knew exactly how I wanted it to be styled. We had amazing DMC (Destination Management Company) partners who brought all my visions to life.

The Meetings Show takes place on September 30th and October 1st at ExCeL London. To find out more and register to attend, click here.
