The Meetings Show Tomorrow’s Talent Winner spotlight: Naomi Hollas, Event Grads

The Meetings Show recently announced the winners of its Tomorrow’s Talent competition, an initiative which aims to champion talented newcomers to the industry and provide a platform for nurturing, mentoring and supporting the industry leaders of the future.

Over the coming days, PA Life will throw the spotlight on each of the winners, continuing with Naomi Hollas…

Graduating with a first in International Event Management two years ago, Naomi Hollas took ongoing part-time roles with DF Concerts & Events alongside which she founded Event Grads, a global support network for industry newcomers.

What does it mean to be a Tomorrow’s Talent 2021 winner?

It’s an incredible honour, especially being so recently out of university. I really hope it inspires other young professionals and graduates to put themselves out there and jump at opportunities such as this! It is also a huge privilege to be recognised alongside such an excellent line-up of fellow professionals.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced this past year, with regards to your career?

I’d only just got my foot in the door before the pandemic hit. After being made redundant twice, first from my graduate role and then from a job in hospitality, it was incredibly difficult to stay motivated as the months rolled on, battling with unemployment like many within the industry. On a positive note, if it wasn’t for the pandemic Event Grads would not exist, so I’m very thankful to the whole events community for their support, advice and guidance.

What do you love most about the sector?

The fact that every day, every event and every sector within the industry is different but so intertwined. I live for the variety, the people and the opportunity to continue learning. It was not until events were pulled from under me that I realised the positive impact they have on my wellbeing! I can’t wait for the industry to be fully back up and running again.

The Meetings Show takes place on September 30th and October 1st at ExCeL London. To find out more and register to attend, click here.
