A Not-So-Standard Christmas experience in London

The Standard, London has decked its halls with two unique Christmas installations, designed by their very own artists in residence, Harris Reed and Chet Lo.

The prompt for the fashion designers to create their own installations was: ‘What does Christmas look like to you?’. And in true Reed and Lo fashion, they took it to another place and time. Designed and created all within the hotel, each artist has added their own individual style and flair to the classic tradition, and have worked with The Standard, London’s mixologist team to create two special cocktails to accompany.

On the ground floor, fluid fashion designer Harris Reed’s gothic-meets-romantic trees take centre stage in the hotel lobby, Library Lounge and Isla, creating a midwinter’s night dream with a fluid forest. The 70s-inspired Double Standard bar and restaurant is home to boundary-breaking designer Chet Lo’s futuristic and colourful sculpture created with his signature knit, alongside abstract ornaments resting on tables and hanging from the ceiling.

Located throughout the hotel, guests can delve right into the vibrant world of The Standard, London and explore the artist’s alternative takes on the festive season around the building.

Specially-created cocktails accompany each artist in residence’s Christmas decorations, reflecting both designers’ individual style in flavour. Down in The Library Lounge, Harris Reed’s cocktail incorporates Hennessy VS Cognac infused with Jasmine, Bespoke Biters, and Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne. Chet Lo’s cocktail in the 70s-inspired Double Standard features Tanqueray London Dry, Lemon, Butterfly Pea Tea, Blue Blue Curaçao, and Moet & Chandon Champagne.
