Academic Venue Solutions membership continues to grow

Academic Venue Solutions’ membership continues to grow in 2018 with the addition of two new members to the consortium, Robinson College and Anglia Ruskin University.

Opened as a purpose-built conference centre in support of our academic vocation, Robinson College has been excelling as a conference venue for over 30 years. The youngest of the Colleges of the University of Cambridge, it has the dual benefit of being architecturally striking and highly functional.

The conference facilities host up to 390 delegates, including two large theaters and the exclusive Crausaz Wordsworth Building plus 270 bedrooms. Delegates attending Robinson can enjoy the attractive gardens, car parking and two exceptional dining areas. Exploring Cambridge is just as easy, as the College is within walking distance of the famous โ€˜Backsโ€™. The area to the east of Queen’s Road in the city of Cambridge, where several colleges of the University of Cambridge back onto the River Cam, their grounds covering both banks of the river.

ย They haveย invested ยฃ100 million in facilities in the past five years

Alexis Moreau, conference and catering manager from Robinson College, commented on joining AVS: โ€œThe new and clear strategic direction gives us confidence in the partnership, and we are looking forward to developing new working relationships with conference organisers. We felt that becoming a member of such organisation, which represents academic venues matched our conference business strategy, and look forward to utilising the education opportunities, knowledge hub and the many other member benefits.โ€

Staying in Cambridgeshire, Anglia Ruskin University benefits from two campus; in Cambridge and Essex. The Cambridge campus is a short walk from the city centre or 20 minutes from Cambridge train station. Alternatively, the campus is easily accessible using one of Cambridgeโ€™s five Park and Ride services. The Cambridge campus is a stoneโ€™s throw from the historic city centre with its vibrant cultural and social scene. With plenty of contemporary classrooms and lecture theatres, they have invested ยฃ100 million in facilities in the past five years.

All these facilities are located just a 10 minute walk from the city centre

Heading south of Cambridgeshire and into Essex youโ€™ll find their other campus. In one of England’s newest cities, Chelmsford, a spacious and green riverside campus is made up of striking, modern buildings that house state-of-the-art facilities. All these facilities are located just a 10 minute walk from the city centre and offer contemporary teaching spaces available for hire all year round, from small meetings for 10 people, to conferences for 400.

Natalie Williamson, general manager from Academic Venue Solutions, commented: โ€œOn behalf of the Board and my team weโ€™re proud to welcome our two new members. Robinson College and Anglia Ruskin University continue to strengthen our higher education credentials in the sector. This new members news follows two successful exhibitions we attended; The Meetings Show and Chase, where we secured a high number of leads on behalf of the membership.โ€

Next up for the AVS team is to start on plans for their own exhibition, the Academic Venue Showcase. The 2019 show will be taking place in March, with a new venue to be announced in the coming months.
