Chelsea FC launches 3D & VR tours of its event spaces

Events at Club Chelsea unveiled a state-of-the-art 3D virtual tour for its event spaces today, allowing event bookers to experience the space in virtual reality.

The virtual tour, available via VR headsets or on the events.chelseafc.com website, allows events bookers to see what Stamford Bridge has to offer as a venue for major conferences, exhibitions, and dinners without the need to visit in person.

With a re-opening date to be confirmed once Coronavirus restrictions lift, the virtual tour has been launched in response to demand from prospective clients. Many need to view spaces for events scheduled to take place from the autumn now, but have been unable to view London conference venues like Stamford Bridge because of restrictions. The virtual tour will provide prospective clients with a way round this.

Simon Hunter, Head of Venue and Development at Chelsea Football Club, said: “Venue hire in London has of course been impacted by Coronavirus, but we are beginning to see enquiries pick up again, and our virtual tour is an important step towards being ready for re-opening. Clients from the UK and internationally recognise the advantages of heritage, space and connectivity associated with sports related venues. We have been proactively working with existing clients to reschedule events with a range of safety measures in place, and the software will make it easy to visualise how they will be implemented.”

The virtual tour enables users to experience every event space at Stamford Bridge, alongside information points providing details on capacity and layouts, with interactive images of different set-up scenarios. Covering the whole stadium, the tour allows guests to virtually walk through it and see exactly how spaces connect and delegates flow between spaces.

The software will help ensure conferences and exhibitions can proceed at Stamford Bridge as soon as restrictions have eased, because event clients will not have to wait to view spaces physically. This will all help towards supporting the UK economy as it springs back to life, especially as conferences are a key driver of business across all sectors.

Hunter added: “The quality of the VR software means it is almost the same as visiting Stamford Bridge in person. You can see and explore every inch of our venues, from the Great Hall that holds up to 1,000 delegates to exclusive suites with inspiring views of the football pitch. COVID-19 means an extra focus on access and links between conference and exhibition spaces and we’re confident that thanks to our facilities we will be amongst the first venues to safely resume operations to support jobs and economic growth.”

Chelsea Football Club hosted over 600 non match day events in 2019. These include GIANT Health Event 2019, Europe’s largest innovation in health tech conference, PHEX 2019, the UK’s leading exhibition for plumbing and heating professionals, and Sports Video Group’s FutureSPORT conference.
