CHS Birmingham launches ‘Project Confidence’

CHS Birmingham is aiming to inject confidence into the meetings and events industry as it recovers from the effects of the global pandemic. The exhibition itself was forced to postpone during the lockdown but will now form part of the industry’s return.

A big part of the objectives for CHS Birmingham will be ‘project confidence’; encouraging both event organisers and delegates to feel more comfortable organising and attending larger events. With many smaller events already flooding back into the market, and with more to come in the summer and spring, the exhibition is challenging the industry to ‘go big, but not stay at home’.

“It’s great to see the industry experiencing such a return to form, but there is so much more to do to get us all back to pre-pandemic levels,” said Emma Cartmell, Managing Director, CHS Group. “We’re looking at ‘project confidence’ as a way in which we can not only facilitate business amongst our buyer and seller communities, but also speed up the return to normality.”

“We’re looking to give confidence to businesses to hold larger events; organisers to petition stakeholders to get them organised; and delegates to feel secure and safe in attending them. If we can do that, we can play a larger role in injecting speed into our recovery and a bouncier bounce back for everyone.”

The event also marks CHS Group’s first in Birmingham, a fitting destination in the centre of the UK’s event organising community and with easy access to organisers across the country. The city also brings added interest as it looks to host the Commonwealth Games in 2022, a fitting platform for one of the UKs oldest ‘event cities’, but also one with a new story to tell.

“Birmingham is such a fitting place for this industry reunion. It’s a wonderful city, but one that has been in the events industry longer than most,” added Cartmell. “It’s also represents the wider midlands area which is home to some of our most recognised global event brands; we call it the UK’s events belt. Now we get to enjoy future Birmingham, the Commonwealth Games and everything this city will offer the events industry over the next 10 years. We can’t wait to be there.”

CHS Birmingham takes place at the ICC Birmingham on October 26th.
