clic+ Club 2016: Perfect planning prevents poor performance

The next clic+ Club event takes place on 7 July

Any event organiser worth their salt knows that careful and considered planning is the key to a successful conference or meeting. Grounded in robust research, the quality of the strategy and plan can make or break your event.

In the first clic+ Club event, Richard John from RJA GB Ltd and Jackie Mulligan from Leeds Beckett University gave club members much to think about, demonstrating how different approaches and methodologies yield better results and more nuanced information that would add value, both to the organiser and the delegate.

In the next instalment of the clic+ lecture series, taking place on 7 July at Robinson College, Cambridge, attendees will uncover how this research can be incorporated in the planning process.

Two expert speakers – Annabel Bradford, Marketing and Events Manager at Redgate and Susan Heaton-Wright, Creative Director at Viva Live Music – will offer tips and best practice on how to stay organised and on-track, including valuable information on planning with colleagues and suppliers.

Annabel Bradford will share some lessons learned from agile software development and discuss her approach to event planning, encouraging the necessary flexibility to adapt and innovate. Particularly, she will demonstrate how to use the principles of agile methodology for event project management, which emphasise collaboration, user feedback and continuous improvement to ensure successful events where the organisers stay firmly in control.

Susan Heaton-Wright brings a wealth of experience from the supplier side. Having set up Viva Live Music 11 years ago, she has worked extensively with event organisers in the planning process. In this impactful speech, Susan will share top tips for building valuable and trustworthy relationships during the planning process to ensure events are a great success.

This special seminar is the second in the clic+ Club lecture series: ‘The 5 Steps to Successful Events’ – Research, Planning, Creation, Delivery and Analysis. Free to attend and open to event professionals, on attending your first clic+ club event you automatically become a clic+ member and receive further benefits of membership.

In addition to the lecture series, members can also benefit from networking, an expert advice shop, event tech ideas, a small exhibition and access to the ‘Little Black Book’, a member sharing area for ideas, innovations and supplier information.
