Corporate sailing to usher in a new wave of team-building challenges

Sailing company Viking Marinersย has introduced a series of โ€˜Stay & Sailโ€™ packages to encourage businesses to find their sea legs. Combining a day onboard a luxury yacht with an overnight stay at a boutique hotel, the Suffolk-based specialist is offering personalised events to encourage companies to learn about hospitality, leadership and team building for groups of between 10-80 people.

Sailing along the local coast or down the river Orwell and Stour, the corporate events can take place aboard a range of luxury yachts and catamarans, and provide businesses with dinner, bed and breakfast at a choice of venues. No sailing experience is necessary and can include activities such as jet skiing, yacht racing and water skiing over a timeframe that suits. As the environment and weather can change quicker than expected on the water, the team at Viking Mariners believes the setting is ideal for developing teamwork skills.

โ€œSailing is one of the most inspiring, challenging and rewarding team-building activities,โ€ said Sue Clark, business manager at Viking Mariners. โ€œExperience and fitness isnโ€™t essential which is why it attracts clients from all sectors.โ€

Offering London businesses one of the quickest journeys to get out onto the water, it takes around 90 minutes to reach the company from London to the Ipswich waterfront.

โ€œOur approach is unique in that we organise the entire event, including managing and hosting the sailing day, ensuring everything goes smoothly,โ€ continued Clark. โ€œAny company looking for a cost-effective event that will leave a lasting impression should definitely consider sailing.โ€
