Inspired corporate hospitality at Hotel Football Old Trafford

Hospitality at Hotel Football

I’m in the corporate hospitality lounge at Hotel Football gazing out the window at a thrilling view – the gigantic glass façade of Old Trafford stadium, writes Amelia Walker. The sea of red shirts below is the thousands of ant-like Manchester United fans milling around pre-match. The sun is shining, the atmosphere is buzzing, jovial – the wine is flowing – and it’s only 11am.

I am reviewing the hotel’s Stadium Suite match day experience, which includes pre and post-match hospitality, a Q&A with a Manchester United legend (today’s legend is Nicky Butt), a four-course à la carte meal, complementary bar throughout, official match day programme and complimentary parking (subject to availability).

First up, the food – of which I have to say throughout the day is fabulous. There’s the option of English cured meats and breads or a sturdy fry-up with all the trimmings, fresh juices, fizz, and tea and coffee for breakfast. This is buffet-style and an informal format, which encourages tables to interact and chat before kick-off. I find myself nattering to families and friends celebrating birthdays, groups of businessmen kicking back outside of the boardroom and United fans simply wanting to treat themselves to a day out.

It is clear from the eclectic audience in the room that whether winning new business, entertaining clients, rewarding staff members, celebrating a special occasion, or enjoying an informal hospitality match day – there’s a wide array of match day hospitality opportunities and exciting fixtures for both business and leisure available to suit every requirement.

Appetites whetted, we head off to watch the game and the stand seats we have been allocated are fantastic – we have a great birds-eye right in the hustle and bustle of the crowd but are conveniently located near to the bar, perfect for that half-time tipple.

Post-match lunch back in the Suite is served silver service style and I’m impressed with the options available and the quality of the cuisine. Think starters of soup and spiced butternut squash veloute, mains of duck, beef, lamb and venison loin with potato puree and chocolate creations for dessert. Service by the young staff is bustling, friendly and professional and comes with a smile.

Hotel Football is undoubtedly a spectacular venue for glorious games, football hospitality and corporate ticket packages, providing impressive dining, professional service and the ideal location next to Old Trafford in the city’s dynamic Quays development. The hotel is owned by the Class of ’92 – a group of famous former United players.

Legend Nicky Butt takes to the stage for an interesting and fun Q&A with the audience to round off the afternoon.

Top marks. This hospitality package is certainly one for assistants who are looking to arrange an affordable and memorable sporting occasion for their organisation. It’s sure to be a hit with the boss.
