London Christmas party bookings: Why early planning matters more than ever

For Executive Assistants, Personal Assistants and Office Managers tasked with organising their company’s festive celebrations, securing the right venue remains one of the biggest challenges of the year. We bring you results of the 2026 London Christmas Party Survey findings emphasize the importance of early planning…

New research from Venue Search London suggests that demand for the most sought-after Christmas party dates in the capital continues to intensify, with Thursday evenings firmly established as the preferred choice for corporate celebrations.

Thursday is the new Friday when is comes to Christmas Party bookings

According to the latest survey of event buyers, more than four in ten organisations are planning a Thursday night event, placing significant pressure on London’s most popular venues throughout December. While Friday evenings once dominated the festive calendar, changing working patterns and hybrid schedules have reshaped how companies approach their end-of-year celebrations.

Why early corporate Christmas party planning matters more than ever

For EAs and PAs tasked with delivering memorable experiences for their colleagues, this means competition for premium venues remains fierce. Those hoping to secure the widest choice of locations, entertainment options and catering packages are being encouraged to begin the booking process as early as possible.

The survey also points to a continued shift in event formats. While traditional seated dinners remain popular, many organisations are opting for more informal experiences, including bowl food receptions, food stations and street-food-inspired menus. These formats offer greater flexibility and encourage networking and social interaction among attendees.

Another notable trend is the rise of events that combine business and social elements. While evening celebrations remain the dominant format, a growing number of companies are incorporating daytime activities before transitioning into festive drinks and entertainment later in the day.

Despite ongoing economic pressures, businesses continue to invest in employee celebrations. Average spend per guest has risen compared with last year, while overall event budgets have also increased, highlighting the importance organisations place on recognising and rewarding their teams.

For corporate event organisers, the message is clear: early planning provides the greatest flexibility and choice. However, those able to consider alternative dates, lunchtime events or non-traditional formats may still uncover excellent opportunities and value later in the booking cycle.
