Management skills course to help you move on up

The role of the PA has changed dramatically during the 21st century, due to developments at executive level and changes in technology. Assistants have become vital members of organisations and this has led to a demand for PAs who have knowledge of management theories and practices. Birkbeck University and the Global PA Network have teamed up to design a programme that gives them the skills they need to achieve their best.

The Management for Personal Assistants certificate programme, taught at the universityโ€™s central London and Stratford campuses, covers topics such as the role of the executive PA, understanding organisations, strategy and business planning, leadership and team building, managing change, marketing, financial decisions and people management and diversity.

To finish the programme students must successfully earn up to 120 credits, which is achieved by completing individual modules, six of which are compulsory and include the Global PA Networkโ€™s masterclasses. These cover the seven key skills of executive PAs, raising your game through performance and social media and communications skills. There is also a range of optional courses to help students get the credits they need, including mathematics for business and the marketing challenge.
