NYS Events trumpets stellar growth

The NYS Events team, a dedicated meetings and events brand of Capita Travel and Events, has increased new business by 35% over the last 12 months, bagging six awards nominations in the process.

Capita Plc purchased NYS in May 2017 and since then NYS has become the specialist meetings and events brand of the company. 

This acquisition opened up access to a larger base of blue-chip clients, which the firm says has paid off – NYS has secured two new wins, one from a major global pharmaceutical company and another from a car manufacturer, both because of a successful competitive tender.

In addition, NYS has retained almost every customer contract – including Siemens Plc, who they have worked with for the last 15 years. Due to these successes, the team has grown by 23% to 32 event professionals based around the UK, with additional positions yet to fulfil.  

“Now we have brought our expertise together and formed ‘one team’, the personalised service has really resonated with our customers. The fact that we now have the backing of large Plc gives them the added security and confidence in our capabilities,” Caroline Medcalf, Director of Events at NYS, commented. 

“We have cross-trained our team, which has the dual benefit of enabling our people to work across a variety of different market sectors, but also means our clients benefit from working with expert event partners who can recommend or suggest different ways of doing things. On top of this, we have strengthened our Creative department, and are working in partnership with our clients to further develop their brand and external messaging for their events.

“More recently we opened a new Events team within our Head Office in Derby, creating new roles in the area. “Due to new client wins in and around this location, it made sense to increase our presence and have the team ‘on hand’ to work closely with our clients.

Our team’s high retention rate, numerous awards and growth achievements are all a direct result of our team’s passionate and collaborative approach to each and every project. We’re only half way through the year and our successes look set to continue as we consistently exceed client expectations, our expected retention, growth and revenue goals.”

The team’s success continues as Sarah Symington, Senior Event Manager, won the MICE Manager of the Year and the Meetings and Events team also scooped Highly Commended for the MICE Team of the Year at the prestigious Business Travel People Awards in May.
