PA Life readers reveal how much sunlight they’re getting

A number of our readers are finding it difficult to spend time in the daylight, according to a recent Twitter poll. Asking our followers on @PALifeMagย to reveal how often they get to leave the office to spend time outside, with a rather mixed result.

Around one in three readers admitted they do get a chance for some sunlight during their lunchbreak if not at any other time of the day. This has been backed up by previous polls, which showed that we regularly choose to go on a walk instead of spend time on social media.

Unfortunately, it seems that 30% of us struggle to leave the office even for lunch as plenty opt to eat at their desks, particularly in the colder months. Some of us don’t even get a lunch break at allย as a previous poll revealed that 28% are simply too busy to take time off during the day. On top of that, another 30% answered the poll with ‘what sun’, as the weather just hasn’t been inviting enough for us to spend any time outside even when we can.

The results come following news that around 77% of British workers can go full days without seeing the sun at all, affecting our productivity as well as our physical and mental wellbeing.

โ€œWe may dread winter, but If you continually tell yourself how horrible winter is, chances are it will feel grim,โ€ saidย Dr Meg Arroll, a psychologist working with Healthspan, who released the study. โ€œTry and change your internal monologue about this time of year by writing a new script โ€“ each morning use positive statements.โ€
