She sees her father as the sole person who can supply the love she desires. But her mother distracts his attention, so Pearl executes her plan to overcome this hurdle.

Although an uncomfortable read, we are cushioned by the comfort Pearl finds in nature, as it is here she finds her peace. Will the patchwork of this little girl’s life one day be sewn together to reveal an adult of beauty?
