Taking place between December 5 to 6, the annual conference of UK academic venues has confirmed sales, marketing and mental health and well-being as major themes of the event.

The annual conference of UK academic venues, hosted by Academic Venue Solutions (AVS), is taking place this December, with a focus on all operational elements of venue marketing, plus sessions on mental health and well-being. The conference is the forum for the UK’s academic venues, which will be a packed programme of networking, workshops and practical demonstrations. Taking place from December 5 to 6 2018 at Unique Venues Birmingham (UVB), one of AVS’s newest members. The conference will make use of some of the more unusual spaces on offer including their Rotunda.

“We’re delighted to welcome our new friends to Birmingham and show them what we have to offer,” said Suzanna Reid, UVB’s commercial director. “We’re definitely one of the more unusual member venues, so we hope they leave impressed and having done lots of learning and networking.”

Furthermore, the ‘Fit for Success’ theme will focus on how being ‘fit’ in all areas including; sales, marketing and well-being are essential to being successful.

“Each year we aim to design a programme with our members in mind. Delegates attending work in all fields of venue hire – sales, marketing, operations and events management – so this year there’s something for everyone,” explained Natalie Williamson, general manager of AVS. “We’re making the most of our Learning & Development Academy partnership, and Paje Consultancy Associates, are on hand providing a great range of workshops for delegates to get their teeth into.”

The conference is regarded an excellent opportunity to learn and engage and to enjoy the event with old friends while making new ones. Other confirmed sessions will focus on; social media for location based businesses, exhibitions – the more you put in the more you get out, attracting association business; the benefits and challenges, and stealth, wealth and mental health.

Steve Crawford, the chair of the board of directors for AVS, said: “It’s been a great year for AVS and our member venues so it will be a fitting end to the year to get together and discuss our plans for 2019.”

Registration is now open and non-members can attend the event as an associate venue. Contact the Academic Venue Solutions team on; 0114 2453423 or email.
