The O2 celebrates tenth anniversary

The O2 will celebrate its 10th birthday next week (June 24th) as it cements its position as one of the go-to London venue for high-profile, high-production events.

Since launching in 2007 The O2 has hosted 118 corporate events in its versatile 21,000 capacity arena. Ranging from religious gatherings and corporate conferences to charities and community groups these have brought a combined audience of approximately 1.7 million, as well as numerous events and activations across its spaces including the American Express Invites Lounge, Building Six and London Piazza .

Events have included the prestigious Responsible Business Awards, which was the largest ever dinner held in the arena for 1,600 guests seated; the Salvation Army’s global congress which saw 15,000 delegates descend on the venue; KPMG; Forever Living; and even a public talk by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Repeat business at The O2 is strong and the venue continues to welcome back St James’s Place, The National Television Awards, Hillsong Church, The BRIT Awards, Thomson Reuters and many more. Young Voices, the largest children’s choir concert in the world, has taken place at The O2 every year since the venue opened in 2007.

Up at The O2 opened five years ago and has been a great addition for corporate businesses looking to add an additional element of team-building to their event. Companies often take advantage of the venue’s core business and include a music or entertainment element in their conference or event programme.

Becci Thomson, head of corporate sales at The O2, offered: “Our corporate events business has grown considerably over the last 10 years and our calendar of events at The O2 is more diverse than ever.

“The venue has been a game changer in the live music experience – it raised the bar in terms of what fans expect, what artists expect and the overall experience.

“And this is something we’ve been able to transfer to the corporate events side. Organisers know if they choose The O2 for their event they have incredible scope in terms of activating our entire venue, or choosing one of our smaller spaces for a more intimate event, while also having access to Up at The O2 and corporate hospitality options. We pride ourselves on offering our clients an excellent service, while continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible on a daily basis.”
