Tired of travel?

Much has changed since air miles and upgrades were the peak of perks for business travellers, according to the first-ever Business and Technology Travel Study by Egencia, the business travel company of Expedia. The results indicate that for travellers, mobile technology and constant connectivity are now the must-haves for productive and enjoyable business travel. Corporate trips are no longer 100 per cent about work. The study shows that where you start your trip could shape your attitude about taking it.

The data ?shows that almost half of Brits find business travel exhausting and stressful, while the large majority of French and Germans are happy and motivated while travelling on business.

Statistics showed:

?      Almost half of Brits feel exhausted (41%) and stressed (48%) on business travel.

?      For Brits, 41% of time is unproductive during travel

?   Free WiFi is now deemed twice as important (67%) as free breakfast (32%)

?      Mixing business with pleasure is not uncommon, with over half of respondents (54 percent) adding personal holidays on to their business trips in 2014. 10% of Brits always add leisure to business travel, compared to 24% of French and 20% of Germans.

?      Only 10% of Brits use multiple apps to manage business trips, both Germany and France trebled this figure.

?      42% of French want quick access to tourist information most of all. Compared to contact phone numbers for Brits and Germans.

?      68% check social media during business trips. France (78%), Germany (68%) and UK (59%).

?      67% post on social media while on business trips.

Data comes from the Egencia Business and Travel Technology survey of 1000 business travellers in France, Germany and the UK by the independent polling company OnePoll.
