Travel Counsellors Witnesses Record Breaking Business Travel in May

Kieran-Hartwell-Travel-Councellors-record-May-for-business-travel-bookings

May has seen a significant boost in Business Travel and brought the second highest sales week ever for the corporate travel specialists at Travel Counsellors. The company reported a record £4.5 million corporate sales; only the second time sales have exceeded £4 million this year.

Travel Counsellors, the UK’s leading independent travel company has recorded corporate sales at 154% in May compared the same point in 2019.  This outperforms predictions by the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) who didn’t forecast full business travel recovery for another couple of years, until 2024*.

Long haul business travel is definitely back on the agenda. The UK has now lost its top spot as Travel Counsellors’ leading business travel destination – the USA is number one, followed by the UK and in third place, South Africa.

Specialising in the SME sector, Travel Counsellors is finding average lead times of 11 days have returned to that pre-pandemic; indicative of how essential it is for clients to have face-to-face meetings and events with existing and new customers. Group and incentive business travel has also returned with Travel Counsellors reporting the value of many bookings exceeding £500,000.

Kieran Hartwell, managing director, corporate at Travel Counsellors said: “To be outperforming the market at a time when there are so many variables is of course great news for us.  Our customers remained loyal to us during the pandemic; they know that we provide the highest level of customer service whilst fulfilling all their requirements.  We offer that extra level of flexibility and peace of mind should business travel need to be changed / amended last minute. We are also witnessing a real revival of group travel, whether that be business or incentives.”

In addition to retaining business, Travel Counsellors continues to grow its corporate travel client base for 2022, to date already gaining 13% more new clients compared with the same period in 2019.  The personal service offered by Travel Counsellors means that clients are supported every step of the way with a dedicated Business Travel Counsellor on each account. This coupled with leading edge technology means that Business Travel Counsellors can work alongside clients to develop robust travel policies and ensure the most effective delivery of a business travel service.

Travel Counsellors will be returning as exhibitors to this year’s Business Travel Show Europe at Excel London 29-30 June. Further details regarding guest speakers and their agenda for the two days will be released shortly.
