Zelda la Grange’s Nelson Mandela memoirs to become a film

Zelda la Grange and Nelson Mandela

Zelda la Grange, who worked as an assistant to former South African president Nelson Mandella, wrote the book Good Morning, Mr Mandela to commemorate her time with him. Now her work is set to be the focus of a new film.

Maven Pictures and producer Jacqui Lewis are in talks to bring la Grange’s memoirs to the big screen, according to Deadline. No further details have been released.

La Grange was hired as a typist in Mandela’s office in 1994 but was quickly promoted to the post of private secretary. Many of her talks focus on the fact that her relationship with the leader was revolutionary in post-apartheid South Africa since she is a white Afrikaner who grew up in a conservative family.
