Have you had a promotion recently or received praise from your boss but donโ€™t feel like you deserve it? You could be suffering from impostor syndrome, a phenomenon in which you canโ€™t internalise your accomplishments and fear you might be found out as a fraud. Talk to someone whoโ€™ll listen
We all have those friends whose response to all of your problems is โ€œget over itโ€. But when youโ€™re dealing with something as serious as impostor syndrome, thatโ€™s the last thing you want to hear. Find someone whoโ€™ll really listen to you. Sometimes saying your feelings out loud gives you the chance to realise how silly you sound.

Write down your accomplishments
Impostor syndrome makes you lose sight of exactly how hard you work. This is a good time to think about everything youโ€™ve achieved recently โ€“ or better yet, write it down. Take stock of this list and youโ€™ll soon realise how much value you add to your organisation.

Have a meeting
Even if you feel like your boss is going to be the one to find you out, itโ€™s worth sitting down with him or her to discuss how you feel. If you think youโ€™re not meeting expectations, your manager can lay out exactly what youโ€™re supposed to be doing and reassure you that youโ€™re doing a good job. This also gives you a chance to find out how you can improve so you can move forward and look to the future.
