PA Life readers are choosing stability over their dream jobs

PA Life readers are split when it comes to pursuing their dream j0b, according to our PA Life poll.

Many who took place in our poll revealed that their job was stopping them from doing what they loved, with 60% admitting they were unable to pursue their ambitions while in their current position. 53% admitted that taking their job meant stability, something they couldn’t necessarily guarantee through their passions.

This comes following news revealing that workers are abandoning their talents and becoming less creative as a result. The study revealed that everyday life and hectic schedules factor in heavily for Brits trying to follow their dreams, while one in five chose to focus on family over themselves. Despite many finding excuses for not carrying on with their childhood skills, one in three simply believes they aren’t good enough.

The majority wasn’t huge, however, with 40% admitting that they are following their dreams and embracing the career they want to do. The results help to show that many feel comfortable with the many factors that go into a happy workplace, according a survey by SPANA.

“It’s clear that there’s no shortage of annoyances in the workplace that raise people’s blood pressure on a daily basis,” said Geoffrey Dennis, Chief Executive at SPANA. ”From pointless meetings to colleagues who use your favourite mug, these frustrations seem to be part and parcel of office life in Britain.”
