Abbey Clancy on what inspires her and her top pieces of career advice

“Have patience, if you believe in yourself you should never give up,” said Clancy.

Following the debut of her clothing collection with fashion brand Lipsy London, TV personality Abbey Clancy has shared her thoughts on female empowerment and what keeps her motivated.

According to Clancy, the key to feeling inspired is being happy and feeling confident, something many business professionals can relate to in a market where everyone needs to stand out.

“I like feeding off good energy and good vibes and I love to see people doing well and that definitely inspires me, as I think you can take a bit of their motivation and apply it to whatever you want to achieve,” Clancy added.

Getting to where you want to be in your career takes time and commitment, however Clancy warns that professionals should never give up and always follow their dreams.

“Have patience, if you believe in yourself you should never give up,” she commented. “Be yourself and don’t compare yourself to anyone.

“You should do your best to try and make a difference, even if it’s only to your life. Make an effort – time flies and before you know it, it’s over.”

When discussing the recent female empowerment movement, Clancy said that she thought it was ‘great and that it’s about time’.

Clancy recognises the importance home life has to making children feel empowered and raises her children in a happy home environment so that they can be ‘as confident as possible and trust their instincts, so they can identify if they’re ever in a position where they don’t feel safe and that they know how to get out of there’.

Similarly, Clancy believes that friendships are a crucial ingredient to feeling motivated and supported. She shared: “It’s so important to have strong relationships with your friends – there’s certain things you might not want to tell your mum, or your husband and you do need your girlfriend’s advice.

“You can tell them anything and they won’t judge you, they’ll support you and help you out. I’m really lucky I have just that with my friends.”

As a well-known icon in the fashion industry, Clancy is well-equipped with helpful advice to ensure professionals feel confident, and quite often that comes down to the outfit we are wearing.
