Coronavirus travel update: Not Just Travel rounds up the latest developments

The transport Secretary Grant Shapps has agreed the credit notes can be given to people who have had to cancel their holiday due to Corona Virus – however, if people are insisting they want their refund, holiday companies are obliged to reimburse the customer in full.

Virgin intend to start resuming their flights from 21^st 22^nd July and will increase their flights in the second half of the year. Services from Heathrow top Orlando, Hong Kong, Shanghai, New York JFK and Los Angeles will be the first to resume

Spain’s tourism minister has insisted British tourists will be welcome once restrictions on overseas visitors have been lifted, pending changes to the UK government’s quarantine plans and Foreign Office advice against all-but-essential travel.

Passenger Cruise ship interiors will need “radical rethinking” to enable higher standards of hygiene and adequate social distancing.

Emirates is ramping up its network after the UAE lifted limits on transit passengers via Dubai. The long-haul carrier will offer services to 16 more cities from June 15, using Boeing 777-300ERs, including Manchester and Dublin. The airline will be offering flights for passengers on the back of its scheduled cargo operations from Dubai to 29 cities, including Heathrow from June 11.

London City airport is to resume operations from the end of June after a three-month closure. Domestic services to UK cities and are expected to begin first with international flights to follow by early July. But the exact timing may depend on the government 14-day quarantine of passengers arriving into the UK being imposed from Monday. Passengers will be asked to observe social distancing rules wherever possible in the terminal.
