How to make your Christmas party a festive success

A cool looking bar for a Christmas Party

A Christmas party is a brilliant way to bring people together. Donโ€™t panic if youโ€™ve left it a little late, choosing a weekday to celebrate or holding a daytime event means you can still capitalise on the goodwill of the season.

It’s never easy to plan a work party, remembering that you need to create the perfect mix of professionalism and fun. The pressure is particularly high with the Christmas party as it’s the one event of the year that everyone looks forward to. It’s the perfect way for an organisation to show it’s employees that they care. The team atย Black and White Events have created a list of helpful hints to make sure that your Christmas party is merry with sherry and doesn’t leave your guests as grouchy as a Grinch.

Christmas Party

Here are a few pointers on how to organise the perfect corporate event:

Get planning early

Donโ€™t delay booking, itโ€™s not too late but it soon will be!

To reduce the stress, try liaising closely with your event company in the lead up to the event and let them manage things like planning entertainment, accommodation, catering, theming and staffing.

If you have left it too late and preferred venues are already booked this year, consider holding your party in November or January as it can be cheaper.

How much?

Try and establish a clear idea of your party budget at the very start.

Another key question is who is paying? This might be stating the obvious, but itโ€™s wise to let people know if they are expected to contribute towards their own place, or if the company is footing the bill to avoid any awkwardness!

Get out of the office

Donโ€™t hold it in the company building!

You spend 70% of your waking life at work. For most, this is mainly based in the office. The last thing your employees want is to celebrate a party there.

Pick a date

It’s important to offer different dates to your colleagues, to see which date works the best for the most amount of people.

It takes two

It can be daunting to shoulder the entire responsibility of organising the biggest social event of the year. Consider booking your Christmas party venue with a company you can discuss your needs with in advance.

Hosting a party can be messy and stressy but it can also be fantastic fun. You don’t need a big budget, just a bit of imagination and planning. If there’s one thing the Black and White Events team know, it’s how to throw a good bash!
