Riverside rooftop destination The Deck launches ‘Moonshine Micky’s Speakeasy’

The Deck at the National Theatre

This winter, Thames-side events space The Deck will reveal ‘Moonshine Micky’s Speakeasy’, a unique destination hidden on the roof of the National Theatre that will offer a series of prohibition-themed Christmas party packages for a fun twist on seasonal celebrations.

Guests will be taken on a journey to clandestine drinking dens of the 1920s from the moment they arrive at The Deck. Greeted with a faux backstreet door in a ‘backstreet ally’, they will soon discover a secret entrance concealed with authentic vintage props, leading them to the main venue. A back alcove area will also play host to Moonshine Micky’s ‘office’ with a secret library door covering the entrance to the cloakroom.

Based around a prohibition-style secret speakeasy, the space will incorporate exposed brickwork, dark wood and cosy lighting, featuring old-fashioned signage, prints and rugs for an authentic take on liquor haunts of the past. For an extra touch of festivity, a traditional Christmas tree will be nestled within a cosy seating area.

There will be photo opportunities aplenty at Micky’s Moonshine Speakeasy, but if guests are feeling mischievous they can jump into the specially created ‘mug shot’ photo booth to capture evidence of their night on camera.

Executive Chef Simon Flint and his team have created two indulgent menus of warming comfort food to choose from, to suit a range of budgets and requirements. Both include a delicious arrival cocktail of Micky’s Chicago Ice Tea, unlimited house wine, beer and soft drinks.
