Warwick Conferences reveals the disruption dilemma

Have you or your delegates ever experienced disruption while attending a conference, meeting, or event? It’s a common occurrence. Annoying noises, other guests at the venue and logistical headaches are just some of the distractions that get in the way of meeting effectiveness.

Warwick Conferences has commissioned an independent Value of Satisfaction report, which investigates the rhyme and reason of the disruption dilemma in the meetings and events sector. The research confirms that 75% of delegates have experienced event interruptions in the last 12 months alone – leading to ineffective meetings, wasted budgets and conferences that fall short of their primary goal.

People can also contribute to disruption levels, with more than 25% of those who have attended a meeting or event at a mixed-purpose venue saying their attention had been diverted by non-business guests. Ineffective, unhelpful, or unknowledgeable staff has halted productivity for up to 21% of delegates.

It has also become clear that interruptions can be hidden in the bricks and mortar, with venue logistics impacting delegates’ productivity before they even enter the building. Nearly one in five (17%) have struggled to locate a venue, while 15% have experienced parking difficulties. It’s therefore understandable why an easy-to-find venue, as well as free and handy parking are ranked highly as factors that contribute to satisfaction by more than half of all delegates.

Those who attend off-site meetings and events frequently don’t enjoy rubbing shoulders with brides, grooms, or leisure guests; they value distraction-free environments where they are able to concentrate on the job at hand.
