Why entrepreneurs need a PA

Start-ups and entrepreneurial individuals are hot topics in the business world right now. Modern culture leads all of us to believe we can start our own company and become successful, which is fantastic. But a business comes with a plethora of small details, all of which can bog down a young CEO or founder. Which is why all entrepreneurs should strongly consider splashing out on hiring a PA to help them along the way.

In a recent article for Forbes, self-confessed ‘serial entrepreneur’ Kevin Kruse harkened back to a blog in which Mark Suster said the most important asset in the early days of a new company is the senior team, and getting caught up in admin tasks takes those people away from key issues.

A PA is a brilliant all-rounder in that department. PAs know how to fill out and file important business paperwork, as well as how to arrange meetings and book venues for product launches or investor drinks receptions. But they can also handle all the small stuff – ordering stationery and supplies for the office, booking facilities repairs, etc.

In that respect, an assistant becomes more than just an extra set of hands ticking all the boxes. They’re trusted business partners who can look after things when the boss is away and who have the ability to anticipate exactly what he or she needs before it becomes an issue.

What this all boils down to is productivity. As a boss, having that person by your side means you can focus on more important tasks such as meeting with key clients and investors, securing business deals and marketing your company. In essence, it means you can be a boss.

Kruse points out in his article that some business owners find it difficult to justify paying for a PA. The solution can come in many forms, from hiring somebody part-time to outsourcing admin tasks to a virtual assistant. Either way, you’ll be adding value to your growing organisation in the form of better peace of mind and less stress, which will pay off in the long run.
