Checking in: Whittlebury Hall

With Silverstone just minutes away from the hotel’s doorstep and a luxurious spa on-site, Whittlebury has it all in terms of relaxation and team-building. Jade Burke travels to Northamptonshire to experience all it has to offer.

If you’re more of a thrill-seeking or prefer to kick back and relax, Whittlebury Hall really can offer you both. Set in the rolling county side of Northamptonshire, this stunning four-star parkland estate truly epitomises pure luxury where guests are made to feel at home and take the weight off their feet.

I got the chance to spend the night at Whittlebury a few weeks ago, and it seems the hotel really does have it all on-site. During my visit, my guest an I was taken to experience the Silverstone Formula One Grand Prix. Just a stone’s throw from the hotel itself, Silverstone is as exhilarating as you would expect.

The Formula One cars rocketed past the grandstand, blink and you’d miss them as they travel up to around 200mph around the winding track. Getting to be a part of the action was a thrilling experience and would make a fantastic alternative to a company away day. Plus, there are also team-building exercises available, including the PitStop Challenge, where guests can put coordination and teamwork to the test.

I can’t help but think how fortunate this hotel is to have this on its doorstep – it’s definitely one to think about if you’re seeking a new activity with friends or colleagues.

Back at Whittlebury Hall itself, my guest and I were treated to an indulgent three-course meal inside the Astons Restaurant. It’s fine dining at its best here, where diners can sample chicken liver parfait, sea bass, crispy pork belly, crème brulee, and dark chocolate cheesecake.

For fans of Formula One, the Silverstone Bar hosts a huge collection of motor racing memorabilia, so guests can enjoy one of the speciality cocktails, while browsing all of the exciting souvenirs.

As we looked around the hotel, it was fantastic to see the number of sofas dotted around the rooms, which invite guests to sit down and relax and take in the beautiful décor and the hotel’s surroundings. What impressed me more was the fact that Whittlebury can offer tailored packages to suit your requirements from a small meeting to a national exhibition.

Delegates also have the choice of visiting for the day or sleeping overnight in one of the spacious rooms, which each comes complete with a mini bar, en suite and flat-screen TV, as well as wi-fi access. There are acres of outdoor space to take advantage of too, making it a perfect setting for outdoor activities or meetings in the sunshine.

One of the stand-out attractions for me was The Day Spa. Whittlebury is known for the spa, where guests can unwind and feel refreshed during their stay, and it certainly manages that. Inside there are two separate sections; the Leisure Club and swimming pool and the Heat and Ice Experiences.

Inside the Leisure Club there are a number of gym facilities and group classes to choose from, while the rest of the spa offers a caldarium, crystal steam room, hydrotherapy pool, ice cave and a samarium. Plus, with a wide range of treatments, including massages, waxing and manicures, there is something here for everyone to enjoy.

So, what more could you want from a hotel in the country side? Whittlebury certainly has it all whether you’re after a weekend to relax or to impress your colleagues or boss.
