App of the week: Todoist

Todoist on iPad

Welcome back to our weekly spotlight on helpful apps. We focus on a variety of products that are useful for work, personal use, or both, providing our own thoughts on the apps and what you can do with them. This week we stay on top of our to-do lists with Todoist.

An intro to Todoist
Procrastinators and productivity fans rejoice! Todoist is a distraction-free to-do list app available on iOS, Android, Mac and PC, as well as through a web portal, that allows you to create personalised task lists.

Todoist takes the pressure off you to remember important tasks by offering alerts and calendar notes. You can also share your lists with your colleagues and send in-app messages to them, assign priorities to different items, and create a visual diagram of your productivity.

Our review
We found Todoist to be an intuitive app. There’s no searching for the right way to add an item to a list or faffing around with complicated calendars and lingo. It’s the perfect app for productive people because it saves time simply by being just that – simple.

The app even encourages you to complete tasks by rewarding you with karma points that help you climb up various levels from Beginner to Enlightened. Your team members can see your level, so you can make it a game to motivate them to complete more tasks.

The verdict
At the end of the day, Todoist offers a great digital alternative to those notes you scribble on a piece of scrap paper at your desk. You can access your list virtually anywhere, which means you’ll never be without your to-do lists. And it’s free – although there are business and premium versions available for companies and teams. It’s definitely worth a download; we love portable productivity aids.
