Brits are set to splash out this summer after months of saving

With summer now almost here, it turns out millions of Brits have spent their winter saving for the warmer months – putting aside almost £500 for summer activities.

Two in five Brits made the most of a rainy day this year by stashing away £485 to help cover the costs for the summer.

Meanwhile, day trips and a summer wardrobe are some of the highest summer expenses Brits incur, costing £131 and £0 respectively, closely followed by bbq supplies at £44 and ice creams at £14.

“Summer can be an expensive time of year, and it is tempting to overspend when the sun is shining after the long winter months,” said Greg Tatton-Brown from online casino Casumo.com, who commissioned the study.

“It’s good to read so many are preparing for the warmer weather with a ‘hot pot’ fund, so the fun doesn’t have to stop when the sun finally shines.”

The study revealed that overspending is a concern for many, as 43 per cent of Brits worry about the unchecked purchases they indulge in when the warmer months arrive.

In contrast, over a third admit that they are much more care-free towards their spending when the sun is shining, while 42 per cent believe that summer justifies them to go out and enjoy more expensive activities.
