Colleague courtship increases output

Employees who have been hiding a romantic relationship with a colleague should expose their secret to the company ? so long as they keep it professional during office hours. A recent survey reveals that flings are thought to increase productivity.

The research conducted by health and safety law consultancy Protecting.co.uk shows that 62% of employees believe a romance benefits their career. This is supported by 70% of managers who think staff members work more efficiently if they?re involved romantically with a colleague.

Of the workers surveyed, 18% say they regretted getting into a workplace romance. Only 10% of those admit they had switched jobs or sought a transfer as a result. Some even revealed tales of unrequited love and rejection throughout the course of the research.

When it comes to official policy, a surprising 84% don?t have anything in writing to guide employees on the topic, while 16% ban relationships in the workplace. Those who allow romantic affairs advise staff to keep non-professional interactions outside of office hours to avoid distractions.
