Hiring of PA and support roles to increase in second half of 2017

Tips to make networking fun

A third of hiring managers expect to bring in more secretarial and assistant roles in the second half of the year compared to the first, according to reports. Research by recruiter Robert Walters has revealed that there has been an increase in PA demand since the start of 2017, and recruiters are hoping to inspire business growth through hiring for more support positions.

Mid-level professionals are expected to be in the highest demand, with 83% of bosses looking to support staff to expand their businesses, while 69% will be recruiting for junior positions. Half of companies nationwide will hire more PAs to encourage growth, despite initial fears that the General Election would reduce business growth in Britain.

“A steady stream of roles have been available from large, established firms but it is smaller, startup companies, particularly in growth fields such as fintech, which have been responsible for the most significant spikes in demand,” said manager Gill Owen. “While demand is high for secretarial professionals, cost pressure have led businesses to look for staff who can demonstrate a high degree of adaptability and the ability to take on multiple responsibilities and projects.

“As a result, secretarial and support professionals who can demonstrate experience providing project management support and have the ability to succeed in a role where the ability to respond the rapidly changing needs of the business is essential.”
