Personal stylist Lauren Manville to offer advice during Mental Health Week event

Personal stylist Lauren Manville will be speaking along with other well-being practitioners at an event for NatWest Boost during Mental Health Week (May 14th-24th).

The event takes placeย on May 15th at NatWest, 250 Bishopsgate in London and Manville has providedย few tips in advance on how to avoid burn out an lift spirits.

As we know, mental health doesnโ€™t discriminate – itโ€™s something that affects us all and comes in array of shapes, diagnoses and presentations. Whether a person isย living in a cosmopolitan city or a rural backdrop, it can have a devastating impact. It doesnโ€™t need to beย aย big diagnosis – it can be quiet and consistent like stress, anxiety, doubt and worry.

Manville, who coaches women to become their best selves through styling, said: โ€œA holistic outlook is key to every area of life and how we view and present ourselves is no different. It is essential that we put the time in to making ourselves feel good.”

In advance of the talk, she has provided the following tips:

Wearing colour

“Injecting even the smallest amount of colour into your outfit can have a massively positive impact on attitudes, outlooks and well-being. Opt for yellow to truly lift spirits, orange to feel more social, pink for nurturing, green for bringing about change/ regeneration, blue for calm, purple for self-confidence and red to feel dynamic or at least a bit more peppy.”

Sleep

“Something I personally struggle with but is so key to helping keep balance and mood in check. It cannot be overstated how important sleep is in creating a healthy mind.”

Physical activity

“Whether it be yoga, walking the dog or swimming as we all know an activity will work wonders to improve mental outlook and lift spirits.”

Change your space

“Being chained to a desk can leave you feeling trapped and can be quite uninspiring. Swapping to another space or even slightly rearranging it can be a real motivator.”

Let go of unreasonable expectations on yourself

“We are all so guilty of this! Youโ€™re doing way better than you give yourself credit for so embrace what you do complete in a day and forgive what you canโ€™t manage.”
