London lagging other cities for UK salary growth

New data from CV-Library indicates that wage growth cross the capital is not as pronounced as other areas in the UK, despite overall salaries being higher in London.

The research, based on advertised salaries, shows that national salaries grew on average by two per cent year-on-year in the UK during April, while salaries in London rose by 2.5 per cent in the same period.

London could only manage eighth in terms of cities with the highest growth in salaries, with Glasgow in front at 14% followed by Brighton and Cardiff.

The top 10 UK cities for salary growth in full:

1. Glasgow – 13.9 per cent
2. Brighton – 12.3 per cent
3. Cardiff – 9.6 per cent
4. Liverpool – 5.5 per cent
5. Nottingham – 5.4 per cent
6. Southampton – four per cent
7. Portsmouth – 3.7 per cent
8. London – 2.5 per cent
9. Manchester – 2.1 per cent
10. Hull – 1.6 per cent
