Meeting room mix-ups lead to embarrassing situations

Embarrassing situations are a fact of office life. We spend so much time at work that we’re bound to encounter a faux pas at some point. But Kit Out My Office found that meeting room mix-ups are one of the leading causes of embarrassing situations.

The office furniture company polled 2,659 British workers and found that one in three admit they have walked in on an awkward situation. Digging a bit further, they discovered that 25% encountered a disciplinary or dismissal meeting, 21% saw an emotional heart-to-heart and 8% witnessed an intimate moment between colleagues.

When asked how they stumbled upon this moments, 58% said they has walked into the wrong meeting room, while 41% had got the time of their meeting mixed up. Rather worryingly, 76% of respondents said the mix-up was caused by poor signage or unnamed rooms.
