New data shows Brits find Christmas more stressful than divorce

With just over a month until Christmas Day arrives, new figures have revealed that a quarter of Brits find the festive day more stressful than divorce.

According to figures found by Zeek, a giftcard retailer, 15 per cent cited that Christmas is worse than moving house, while one in ten revealed it is more stressful than a child’s first day at school.

Zeek’s data also found that shoppers are not looking forward to Black Friday either, with the average cost of the next two month’s festivities reaching £700.

Over of a third of those interviewed admitted that they would have to borrow £200 to cover the costs, which would take on average over three months to pay back.

“We know how easy it is for the costs to stack up at this time of year. Black Friday and Christmas can play havoc with our bank accounts and leave many people feeling stressed and anxious,” said Daniel Zelkind, co-founder of Zeek.

“We’ve really enjoyed bringing a bit of light entertainment to shoppers and using the medium of magic to show how easy it is to get free money using Zeek.”

Zeek’s data found that Black Friday is the most stressful for 20 per cent of Brits, with half revealing that they despised battling through the crowds.

In comparison, 32 per cent said that they would head out into the crowds for fear of missing out on a deal.
