The number of women passengers using Addison Lee cars after midnight has jumped by 18% since the beginning of February.
This rise follows a series of high-profile media interviews with senior Addison Lee executives emphasising the importance of passenger safety.
Andy Boland, Addison Lee Chief Executive Officer says: “Over recent months women have been telling us that minicab safety has become increasingly important to them and their families. All Addison Lee drivers are vetted, trained and insured and our vehicles are fully serviced and maintained. We also operate a 24-hour call centre, which means that more and more women are seeing us a brand they can rely on and trust.”
Addison Lee provides a blanket insurance cover for all its cars and drivers. Recent events suggest that this is not always the case with other companies and a perceived lack of enforcement is a further cause for concern.
Addison Lee has one of the toughest recruiting standards in the industry, with only a third of applicants being hired. All Addison Lee drivers have to pass a series of rigorous language, route knowledge and background tests that go far beyond the mandatory Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB)
Andy Boland adds: “Particularly late at night, minicab passengers want to feel safe and secure. They want to know the car will turn up, the driver will know where they are going and that there is a control centre monitoring events. More and more female passengers are turning to Addison Lee because they feel safe with our drivers.”
