Asking our readers which websites they thought were most trustworthy, LinkedIn ranked top with 39% admitting they found it the most trustworthy. Despite asking users through Twitter, only 11% considered the social network more trustworthy than the rest, and not a single respondent voted for Facebook.
Above all else, PA Life readers admitted that they donβt actually trust any social media site, with 50% admitting they donβt think any of them should hold the title of βmost trustworthyβ. This comes following the release of Edelmanβs annual Trust Barometer, which revealed that following a year of social hoaxes and the wave of βfake newsβ, social sites are being urged to clamp down on regulation to deter disinformation and harassment.
βThe public want action on key issues related to online protection, and to see their concerns addressed through better regulation,β explained Ed Williams, Edelman CEO. βFailure on their part to act risks further erosion of trust and therefore public support.β
